UAE and Azerbaijan Deepen Ties Through Strategic Partnership Discussions

Abu dhabi: UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan met with His Excellency Ilham Aliyev, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, to review bilateral relations and explore ways to expand cooperation.

According to Emirates News Agency, the discussions were held within the framework of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership and Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two nations. The meeting, which took place at Qasr Al Shati in Abu Dhabi during President Aliyev's working visit to the UAE, focused on collaboration opportunities in economic, investment, development, and renewable energy fields.

The leaders also addressed the recent announcement of the 2026 Zayed Award for Human Fraternity, recognizing the peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia. This agreement is seen as a significant step towards conflict resolution and a model for reconciliation on a global scale. H.H. Sheikh Mohamed congratulated President Aliyev, highlighting the award as a testament to the wisdom of both nations in fostering peace and cooperation across the Caucasus region.

President Aliyev commended the UAE's diplomatic efforts and goodwill initiatives in promoting peace, stability, and security on regional and global fronts. The meeting was attended by several high-ranking officials, including H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President and Deputy Prime Minister, and members of the Azerbaijani delegation.

A Letter of Intent on defence cooperation and a Memorandum of Understanding for a twinning relationship between Abu Dhabi's Department of Municipalities and Transport and Baku were announced during the meeting. President Aliyev's visit to the UAE was marked by a warm welcome from H.H. Sheikh Mohamed and other senior officials.
