Abu dhabi: The United Arab Emirates has sent 70 tonnes of humanitarian aid and relief supplies to Venezuela following two recent earthquakes, as part of its emergency response to the disaster.

According to Emirates News Agency, the shipment was delivered through the UAE Aid Agency in coordination with the UAE Embassy in Caracas. It includes medical supplies, tents, and shelter materials aimed at addressing urgent humanitarian needs and supporting the Venezuelan authorities' response efforts.

The aid shipment was received by senior UAE and Venezuelan officials, including Andrea Corao Faria, Venezuela's Deputy Minister for Asia, Middle East and Oceania, and Inder Romero, Deputy Minister for Industrial Development and Commerce of the Ministry of People's Power for Industries and National Commerce.

Dr. Tareq Ahmed Al Ameri, Chairman of the UAE Aid Agency, stated that the assistance reflects the UAE's commitment to rapidly responding to humanitarian crises. He noted that the supplies will support urgent shelter and healthcare needs by providing accommodation materials for displaced individuals and medical supplies for treating the injured, thus aiding in early recovery efforts and alleviating the suffering of those affected.

Alexandra Josefina Hern¡ndez, Venezuela's Vice Minister of Health, expressed that the UAE was the first country to provide these specific medical supplies tailored to the ministry's requirements. She commended the UAE's swift response and its support for Venezuela's healthcare sector, noting that further international assistance might be needed as the situation develops.

The UAE Aid Agency mentioned that its teams are conducting field visits to the hardest-hit areas of La Guaira state to assess damage and humanitarian needs. Additionally, the teams are performing regular inspections of tent installation sites and medical warehouses in Caracas to monitor aid distribution and ensure compliance with international humanitarian standards.
