Abu Dhabi: The UAE Media Council (UAEMC) today signed a contract with Presight, a leading global big data analytics company powered by AI, during the 'Make it in the Emirates' event. The agreement aims to launch the Unified Media AI and Analytics Platform, a next-generation solution designed to regulate and assess media content prior to publication.
According to Emirates News Agency, the platform supports UAEMC's national regulatory mandate by providing a single, AI-powered environment to analyse, inspect, and validate media content that is pending release, such as books, films, and artworks. This approach ensures thorough and accurate reviews of content, aligning with UAE laws, values, and standards before reaching the public.
The platform aggregates datasets from various agencies and licensing bodies, offering a centralized AI-enabled capability for efficient data-driven decisions. It includes advanced tools for searching, analysing, filtering, and collaboration in real-time.
Mohammed Saeed Al Shehhi, Secretary-General of the UAE Media Council, highlighted the transformative milestone the platform represents for the UAE's media regulatory landscape. He emphasized the Council's commitment to proactive, AI-driven governance that ensures content pending publication upholds UAE's legal, ethical, and cultural standards.
Al Shehhi also noted that this initiative aligns with the UAE Strategy for Government Services, integrating real-time data analytics with regulatory tools to streamline processes and improve decision-making quality and pace across the sector. He underscored AI's role in enhancing transparency and future-proofing media policy.
Thomas Pramotedham, CEO of Presight, expressed pride in providing UAE media regulators with a tool that aligns content with national ethical and cultural standards. He emphasized the platform as an example of Applied AI's role in protecting national values while enabling consistent regulatory action.
Previously, media content inspection and licensing were conducted manually. The new platform will digitize and enhance these processes, reducing review cycles and improving consistency and communication between media agencies and stakeholders. With its intuitive AI-driven interface, the platform is set to reinforce UAE's leadership in digital governance.
