1 Billion Followers Summit to Host World’s Largest AI-Generated Film Prize in 2026

Dubai: The 1 Billion Followers Summit, recognized as the world’s largest gathering dedicated to the creators economy, has completed its preparatory meetings for its fourth edition. Organized by the UAE Government Media Office, the summit aims to reinforce the UAE’s status as a global hub for positive content creation and growth within the digital economy.

According to Emirates News Agency, the summit promises an exciting agenda, including the launch of the world’s largest prize for AI-generated films, valued at US$1 million. This initiative, in partnership with Google Gemini, underscores the UAE’s role in the content economy. The event will feature a lineup of speakers with a combined following exceeding 3 billion and will take place from January 9th to 11th, 2026, across prominent locations in Dubai.

The preparatory meetings spanned five days, bringing together CEOs of leading social media platforms, industry experts, and digital media companies. Discussions focused on enhancing the summit’s media presence and strategies for purposeful content creation. Participants explored technological trends, shifts in the creators economy, and methods of combating misinformation.

The meetings also addressed the future of content creation, emerging industry trends, and innovation tools. There were interactive debates on monetization strategies and building cross-border partnerships, emphasizing the rapid transformations in digital media and expanding collaboration networks.

Mohammad Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs, highlighted the UAE’s leadership within the content economy, supported by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. The summit aims to foster purposeful film production using AI, with storytelling, creativity, and alignment with humanitarian themes as key judging criteria.

Additionally, AED50 million has been allocated for the Creators Ventures Programme, supporting creative projects with cultural and economic impact. The programme offers funding, mentorship, and tools to propel projects globally, organized in collaboration with 500 Global.

The summit will also introduce a Content Creation Companies Pavilion, providing a platform for startups to showcase their ideas and establish a presence in the UAE. The pavilion aims to inspire emerging creators and encourage collaboration within the content economy.

The summit announced five new ambassadors: Simon Squibb, Alexandra Mary Hirschi, Khalid Al Ameri, Omar Farooq, and Ammar Kandil, each bringing unique expertise and influence to the event.

Main partners for the summit include SEE Holding, Emirates, MBC Group, Sony, and Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy, with participation from major digital platforms like Google, Meta, and TikTok.

Building on the success of its previous edition, the summit continues to accelerate global creative transformation and foster innovation and collaboration within the digital content landscape.
