Egypt condemns burning of Quran copy in Sweden as ‘disgraceful act’

CAIRO, Egypt has strongly condemned the burning of a copy of the Noble Quran by an extremist on Saturday in Sweden’s capital, Stockholm, as a “disgraceful act”.

In a statement, the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs warned that this “disgraceful act provokes the feelings of hundreds of millions of Muslims around the world”.

UAE President, VP condole with President of Gabon on death of his foreign minister

ABU DHABI, President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has sent a cable of condolences to President Ali Bongo Ondimba of Gabon on the death of Michael Moussa Adamo, Gabon’s Minister of Foreign Affairs.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, sent a similar cable of condolences to the President of Gabon.

UNA condemns burning of copy of Holy Quran in Stockholm

JEDDAH, The Union of OIC News Agencies (UNA) has condemned the burning of the Holy Quran by extremists, which took place on Saturday in front of the Turkish Embassy in Stockholm, Sweden.

UNA urged the Swedish authorities to take necessary measures against the perpetrators of this hate crime and called for increased international efforts to prevent the re-occurrence of such acts.

Dubai Customs completes 25.7mn transactions, 2,147 seizures in 2022

DUBAI, Dubai Customs completed 25.7 million customs transactions in 2022, while maintaining the highest levels of security at the emirate’s borders. Dubai Customs also made 2,147 seizures.

Being the oldest government department in the emirate, Dubai Customs has been an active player in the UAE’s progress throughout 2022, recording a remarkable performance in customs transactions, seizures and creative services. It won several global awards and accolades, and launched a number of creative products that aimed to reduce cost for clients and increase their revenues, which helps lure more foreign investments into the trade sector and affiliated sectors.

Dubai Customs dealt with 388 intellectual property disputes in 2022, which included 14.5 million counterfeit items with a street value of AED 109.5 million. The Government Department has also been active in recycling counterfeit goods with more than 93 recycling operations taking place throughout the year that targeted 173,000 counterfeit items.

Inaugural edition of MENA IPO Summit to begin in Dubai on 23 January

DUBAI, H.H. Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Finance, and Chairman of the Higher Committee for the Development of Financial Markets and Exchanges in Dubai, today said that the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, has led to the transformation of Dubai’s financial markets and its emergence as a pivotal global financial hub.

Sheikh Maktoum’s remarks were made on the occasion of the city hosting the MENA initial public offering (IPO) Summit, which will be held from 23rd-25th January at the Museum of the Future in Dubai.

The inaugural edition of the Summit, jointly organised by the Dubai Financial Market (DFM) and the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC), will shed light on the strong impetus and promising prospects of the IPOs sector in Dubai.
