From the “space elevator” soaring across the earth and sky to the thrilling “air combat,” XCMG equipment journeys from behind the scenes to onstage in the prequel to 2019’s ”The Wandering Earth”, which became one of the highest grossing non-English movies ever. Leveraging its comprehensive product portfolio and solutions in hoisting, earthmoving, road, aerial work, sanitation, safety and emergency rescue, XCMG has provided a wide range of operational and transformable machinery equipment for the UEG (United Earth Government) in the film.

“As China’s premier company of industrial design, we came up with several product design proposals in two days after receiving the assignment and selected the best solution with the directors. As you’ll see in the film, we achieved ideal results.  These dazzling pieces of ‘equipment of the future’ were not just for cinematic show, they were inspired by our real-life products that are breaking new ground every day,” said Zhang Han, the industrial designer from XCMG.

XCMG provided 61 units of equipment of 42 models, more than 400 sets of spare parts and workshop props and 61 sets of 3D models over the course of film production, from scheduling, painting, equipment to personnel, logistics, to on-site execution and more. A total of 319 XCMG staff worked on the project.

One of the most coveted pieces of equipment from the film is the ET120 walking excavator, also known as the “steel mantis.” Designed for emergency rescue in complex terrain environments and at disaster-stricken sites, the ET120 can “walk” the plateau mountains, woodlands, ravines, swamps and alpine as if it’s on firm earth, while equipped for installing various tools to perform different tasks such as excavation, lifting, logging, fire extinguishing, crushing, grabbing and drilling at altitudes of up to 4,500 meters and temperatures of minus 40 degrees Celsius.

In addition, the film features dozens of innovative technologies that XCMG has developed for applications in extreme conditions, and over a third of the equipment in the film is unmanned and new energy models, including the AGV.

UAE strongly condemns terrorist attack near Jerusalem synagogue

ABU DHABI, The United Arab Emirates has strongly condemned the terrorist attack near a synagogue in Jerusalem, which resulted in a number of deaths and multiple injuries.

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MoFAIC) affirmed that the UAE expresses its strong condemnation of these criminal acts, and its permanent rejection of all forms of violence and terrorism aimed at undermining security and stability in contravention of human values and principles.

The Ministry also expressed its sincere condolences and sympathy to the government of Israel and its people, and to the families of the victims of this heinous crime, as well as its wishes for a speedy recovery for all the injured.

UAE takes part in G20’s first Health Working Group meeting

NEW DELHI, The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) participated in G20 India’s first health working group session held in India from 18th to 20th January, 2023 respectively.

The aim of the meeting was to discuss the priorities for the health track within G20 under the Indian presidency this year.

The Indian G20 presidency shared that during its presidency it will focus on the priorities of Health emergencies preparedness and response, strengthening cooperation in pharmaceutical sector with a focus on availability and access to safe, effective, quality and affordable medical countermeasures including, but not limited to, vaccine, therapeutics and diagnostics and digital health solutions to aid universal health coverage and improve healthcare service delivery.

Led by Dr. Yousif Mohammed Al Serkal, Director-General of Emirates Health Services, MoHAP delegation expressed gratitude to India for inviting the country to be part of the health working group and acknowledged their willingness and support to work with India to achieve the desired outcomes for their priorities.

Al Serkal emphasised that the UAE’s participation in the G20’s event reflects the country’s commitment to playing a significant, effective, and influential role in international efforts aimed at addressing global health challenges.

He emphasised the need to improve coordination and collaboration to upgrade health systems and support sustainable development goals, particularly in the areas of providing safe and effective medical supplies, treatments, and vaccines and ensuring access to these resources for all communities around the globe.

DEWA’s virtual employee ‘Rammas’ responds to over 6.8mn enquiries in 6-year period

DUBAI, 28th January, 2023 (WAM) — Dubai Electricity and Water Authority’s (DEWA) virtual employee ‘Rammas’, which uses Artificial Intelligence (AI), answered more than 6.8 million enquiries since its launch in the first quarter of 2017 until the end of December 2022.

Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of DEWA, said that DEWA launched Rammas as part of its strategy to employ AI in all its operations and services. Rammas encourages the use of smart channels, reduces the number of visits to DEWA’s Customer Happiness Centres and supports smart adoption at DEWA, which reached 99 percent in 2022.

“DEWA focuses on the future by using technologies of the Fourth Industrial Revolution such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), Energy Storage, and the Internet of Things (IoT), as well as developing the technological infrastructure and providing the latest solutions. Egypt expresses its strong rejection and condemnation of East Jerusalem attack, warns of risks of escalation

CAIRO, The Arab Republic of Egypt expressed its total rejection and strong condemnation of the attack that took place in East Jerusalem, which resulted in the death of several people and a number of injuries, stressing its condemnation of all operations targeting civilians.

In a statement issued by the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the country warned of the severe risks of the ongoing escalation between the Palestinian and Israeli sides, calling for the exercise of the utmost restraint, and an end to aggression and provocative measures in order to avoid falling into a vicious circle of violence that worsens the political and humanitarian situations and undermines de-escalation efforts and all chances of reviving the peace process.

Moreover, Egypt offered its sincere condolences to the families of the victims, wishing a speedy recovery for the injured.

Muslim Council of Elders hosts 4th seminar at Cairo International Book Fair 2023

CAIRO, The Muslim Council of Elders has hosted the fourth seminar at its stand at the Cairo International Book Fair 2023.

Titled “A step towards promoting Human Fraternity”, the seminar was presented by Dr. Nahla Al Saidi, Advisor to the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar for International Student Affairs, who discussed ways to promote coexistence and human fraternity.

During the seminar, Al Saidi said, “Achieving human fraternity entails working to create societies free of wars and conflicts as well as having peaceful individuals who live in harmony with one another. It also involves recognising that the only way to bring about global peace and human fraternity is to uphold the lofty ideals of Islam and its divine law, which call for mercy and interdependence. I call for Humanity to unite to disseminate those ideals and values among people, and to aid those attempting to doing so.”

She added, “The Document on Human Fraternity which was co-signed on the 4th of February 2019 by His Eminence Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar and Chairman of the Muslim Council of Elders, along with His Holiness Pope Francis, Pontiff of the Catholic Church, in Abu Dhabi, is filled with ideals that can guide humanity towards achieving world peace and happiness for individuals and societies alike, to go with reawakening religious conviction within people.”

“The Document on Human Fraternity urged people to adopt the values of mercy, justice, and tolerance and warned us that the world we live in is not a place for conflict, disharmony, and war but for cooperation and acquaintance. For the document to become a reality in our lives, the entire world must adopt it wholeheartedly,” Al Saidi continued.
