Jerusalem – Together – The Community Action Program at the Jerusalem Bard College of Arts and Sciences at Al-Quds University won first place in the annual MacJannet Global Citizenship Award, in honor of its efforts in promoting social responsibility.
The Community Action Program won the award this year due to the diversity of its activities, its remarkable impact on students and society, and its cohesion in facing this year’s challenges. The College’s Community Action Program was able to reorganize itself and transform its activities into an electronic network that coordinates and links local initiatives and businesses, and succeeded in Increasing the number of students and institutions participating in its activities.
The program aims to enhance the university’s role in contributing to the public interest, by supporting the academic staff and students in linking classroom education with practical experiences, developing skills and knowledge that enable students to develop and organize projects aimed at ser
ious and positive change in society, and enhancing the role of students as influencers and actors capable of building Their future and the future of Palestine and the world.
It is noteworthy that the ‘ MacJannet Award ‘ was established in cooperation between the Talloires Network and the MacJannet Foundation to honor outstanding student and community initiatives at the member universities of the Talloires Network, and the award contributes financially to supporting the university’s ongoing efforts in the field of community service.
Al-Quds University was one of the universities that signed the ‘Talwar’ Declaration in 2005, which established the ‘Talwar’ Network, a coalition that includes 437 university deans in 86 countries, and whose members are committed to enhancing the social responsibility of their institutions. This network is considered the largest in the world in terms of focusing on Community work in universities.
