The alert for potential flash floods remains in effect on Monday, particularly in the southern and eastern regions of the country. Abdul-Menaem Qaraleh, the Acting Director of the Jordan Metrological Department (JMD), emphasized in an interview with the Jordan News Agency (Petra) that the unstable weather conditions during summer differ from winter systems in terms of their unpredictable precipitation levels and sporadic geographic distribution. Furthermore, he reported instances of intense hailstorms damaging vehicle windows, rooftops, as well as solar water heating and power systems in certain areas of the capital, Amman, during the early hours of Monday. Qaraleh cautioned that the occurrence of such extreme weather events remains possible throughout the day. He highlighted that in the southern district of Petra, precipitation reached a significant 18 millimeters in less than 15 minutes. The director of the JMD urged the general public to steer clear of areas prone to flash floods and to avoid exposure to hail showers.
