Balqa Governor Salman Najada on Monday urged close cooperation between various authorities and stakeholders to upgrade public and municipal services in the city of Salt to promote it as a magnet for foreign tourists.
Accompanied by Salt Mayor Mohammad Heyari and other local officials, Najada toured Salt town center to check first-hand on services, the public’s needs and merchants’ grievances, particularly regarding tourism, a key economic lifeline of the city, which was declared a UNESCO World Heritage site.
Najada said the government is keen on government-citizen communication, complementarity and engagement, instructing those concerned to address people’s observations and come up with solutions.
The Salt mayor underlined concerted efforts by the municipality and state and local community bodies to improve tourism and public services, noting that Salt has become a global city after joining the list of World Heritage sites, which required doubling of efforts to turn it into a national and global tourist de
stination.
