Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces of Burkina Faso Brig. Gen. Célestin Simpore received yesterday Secretary General of the Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC) Maj. Gen. Mohammed Al-Moghedi at the General Staff headquarters in Ouagadougou.
Discussed at the meeting were the IMCTC Program to Combat Terrorism for the Sahel Countries, launched at the Riyadh Second Meeting of IMCTC Defense Ministers Council held in February, and other training initiatives.
Al-Moghedi also met with leaders of the Burkina Faso Armed Forces to discuss the Sahel countries’ program focused on combating terrorism in key areas such as ideology, media, counter-terrorism financing, and military operations.
Simpore praised the coalition’s efforts in fighting terrorism and extremism, and highlighted its pivotal role in the Islamic world. He also lauded the Kingdom’s support for programs that play a role in enhancing regional security and building capabilities in counterterrorism.
Al-Moghedi thanked Simpore for the
warm welcome and emphasized the importance of international cooperation in implementing programs that improve security and stability in the Sahel region affected by terrorism.
