Abu dhabi: Following the announcement by EDGE Group and AKAER of the signature of the share purchase agreement at a ceremony in July, EDGE has now completed the acquisition of AKAER, with all customary conditions precedent fulfilled.

According to Emirates News Agency, the completion of this acquisition marks a significant milestone for EDGE in Brazil. Hamad Al Marar, Managing Director and CEO of EDGE Group, expressed enthusiasm about AKAER's continued contribution to Brazil's defense ecosystem and the strength its engineering talent will bring to EDGE's capabilities across the Group.

As part of the transaction, EDGE also announced a minority equity stake to be held by SIATT. This reflects the corporate structure agreed for the acquisition, aiming to preserve AKAER's status as an Empresa Estrat©gica de Defesa (EED).

The transaction signifies an expansion of EDGE's investment in Brazil and bolsters the local defense industry by advancing strategic technologies and technological sovereignty. It also aims to support the creation of direct and indirect employment opportunities, as well as the development of national skills and capabilities.

AKAER will provide EDGE with an established engineering base in Brazil, alongside a highly qualified multidisciplinary team that covers the entire product lifecycle, from project design through to industrialization.

Already collaborating closely with EDGE, AKAER has contributed significantly to the development and industrialization of unmanned systems, laying a strong foundation for further integration across the Group.
