Europa League draw results in balanced ties

Manchester United have been handed a tough faceoff with Spain’s Real Sociedad in the group stages of the 2022-23 Europa League, while Arsenal will face PSV Eindhoven.

The draw which took place here today saw Erik ten Hag’s side drawn in Group E, where they will encounter Real Sociedad, Sheriff Tiraspol and Omonia Nicosia in order to advance to the knockout stages.

Elsewhere, Jose Mourinho will face off again with Manuel Pellegrini when Conference League winners Roma take on Real Betis in Group C.

The group stages of this season’s Europa League will take place from 8th Sept to 3rd Nov, finishing weeks before the start of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. The knockout stages will begin on 16th Feb, 2023, with the final scheduled to be held at the Puskas Arena in Budapest, Hungary, on 31st May, 2023.

Group B: Dynamo Kyiv (Ukraine), Rennes (France), Fenerbahce (Turkey), AEK Larnaca (Cyprus).

Group C: AS Roma (Italy), Ludogorets (Bulgaria), Real Betis (Spain), HJK Helsinki (Finland).

Group D: SC Braga (Portugal), Malmo (Sweden), Union Berlin (Germany), St Gilloise (Belgium).

Group E: Manchester United (England), Real Sociedad (Spain), Sheriff Tiraspol (Moldova), Omonia (Cyprus).

Group F: Lazio (Italy), Feyenoord (Netherlands), Midtjylland (Denmark), Sturm Graz (Austria).

Group G: Olympiakos (Greece), Qarabag (Azerbaijan), SC Freiburg (Germany, Nantes (France).

Group H: Red Star Belgrade (Serbia), AS Monaco (France), Ferencvaros (Hungary), Trabzonspor (Turkey).
