Gov’t Comms. Minister calls for developing digital media tools, 1st, final add

President of the Jordan Broadcasters Association, Hatem Al-Kiswani, said that Jordanian broadcasters have never been anything but a voice for the homeland and they will remain faithful leaders of Jordanian national public opinion, builders of positive values in their society, and loyal soldiers who stand against those who target the country with rumors, misinformation and black propaganda, or those who seek to destabilize its security, stability and the morale of its citizens.

He added that the association has set itself the task of preparing generations of broadcasters who know their role in contributing to building their society, and enjoy awareness, culture and professional competence, stressing that the association will continue to implement its programs represented by holding professional training courses, specialized media conferences, seminars, workshops and dialogue sessions, and will also continue to network with Jordanian journalism and media schools to transfer what its members have accumulated fr
om practical experiences and expertise to the students of these schools.

For his part, Professor of Architecture at the American University Kamel Mahadeen presented the history of the establishment of Jordanian Radio and Television and its development, modernization and continuous growth during the era of His Majesty King Abdullah II, where the media message remained expressive of the national and Arab concern and the Palestinian cause, and broadcasting the spirit of tolerance and humanity to the world, recalling key Jordanian broadcasters who were part of the Radio and Television Corporation since its establishment.

The ceremony included a panel discussion with Al Jazeera’s Jordan bureau chief Hassan Al Shobaki and Jo24 editor-in-chief Basil Al Akour, moderated by journalist Saleh Al Zeyoud, which discussed the reasons why journalists and media professionals in Gaza and the West Bank were targeted by the Israeli occupation forces during their media coverage of the aggression.

At the end of the ceremony, M
omani honored a number of late and retired Jordanian journalists and broadcasters for their active and constructive role in promoting radio and television in Jordan.
