Gulf Municipal Work Conference Explores Sustainability and Development in Cities


The 12th Gulf Municipal Work Conference commenced its dialogue sessions in Riyadh, focusing on “Sustainable Municipal Work – Trends and Opportunities.” Participants included Undersecretary of the Ministry of Municipalities and Housing for Urban Planning Eng. Fahd Al-Mutlaq, Assistant Undersecretary for Investment and Revenue Development at the Ministry Abdulmajeed Alaskar, and Undersecretary for Digital Transformation and Smart Cities at the Eastern Province Municipality Nael Al-Hogail.

During the sessions, experts emphasized the importance of strategic planning to bolster sustainability and provide solutions aligned with sustainable development goals. They highlighted the critical role of municipal investments in strengthening city economies, creating job opportunities, and enhancing the quality and longevity of public services.

Additionally, the speakers underscored the need to establish clear standards and legislation to attract investments and assess their impact. They also noted the value of leveraging
modern technologies and digital platforms to streamline processes, reduce time, and improve service quality.
