Undersecretary of Sana’a province Fares al-Kuhali for the Services Sector and Vice Chairman of the Emergency Committee, along with province advisor Abdullah al-Marwani conducted an inspection of Hamal Dam in the New Sana’a district on Monday.
The inspection team, which included Eng. Ali al-Qairi from the Agricultural Projects and Initiatives Financing Unit, Human Resources official Abdulkarim al-Salami, province Operations head Ibrahim al-Fasih, and Deputy Director of the Red Crescent Branch Ahmed Masoud, assessed the current water levels in the dam.
Both al-Kuhali and al-Marwani emphasized the critical need to preserve the dam and address the issue of excess water.
They called for immediate action to deploy suction equipment to lower the water levels and mitigate the risk of potential dam failure due to recent torrential rains.
The officials urged residents to avoid areas near the dam to ensure their safety and advised against any alterations to the dam’s water flow that could endanger homes or obstruct
emergency response efforts.
