Jordan, KFAED discuss cooperation in road projects

Minister of Public Works and Housing, Maher Abul Samen, on Sunday discussed with a delegation from the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED), ways to enhance cooperation in the field of financing road projects in the Kingdom.

According to a ministry statement, Abul Samen praised the fund’s continued support for financing projects in Jordan, stressing the ministry’s readiness to overcome obstacles facing the progress on KFAED-funded projects.

The minister highlighted a number of issues of interest to the Kingdom’s construction and roads sector and technical and financial matters on assessing and reviewing the draft agreement for the third phase of the Kuwaiti grant allocated to rehabilitate Jordan’s roads and bridges that will be financed under the KFAED loan agreement.

The minister commended the level of “brotherly” bilateral relations, as the two countries’ leaderships are keen to strengthen ties to serve mutual interests and achieve pan-Arab integration in all fields.

During the meeting, the
two sides discussed the mechanism for accelerating the procedures for floating tenders to build roads that will be financed through the KFAED loan agreement, the statement pointed out.

Both sides were briefed by the ministry’s Director of the Roads Assets Management Unit, Saba Al-Awdat, on the projects implemented in the first and second phases of the Kuwaiti loan and the projects expected to be included in the agreement’s third stage.

The minister instructed the competent parties to provide the KFAED delegation with all the data required to prepare the technical and financial report of the roads included in the projects, which the fund will finance.

For their part, the delegation’s members valued the ministry’s cooperation and its compliance to the terms of the agreements signed with the KFAED and the speedy completion of a number of projects.

The delegation also hoped that joint cooperation will continue, which would be reflected in carrying out additional “strategic” projects in the Kingdom.
