The London Cultural Saloon organized a periodic meeting on Saturday, focused on Saudi Arabia’s efforts in preserving cultural heritage, with Historic Jeddah selected as a case study.
This meeting is part of a series of events hosted by the London Cultural Saloon, aimed at enhancing cultural dialogue between a select group of intellectuals, opinion leaders, and experts from Saudi Arabia and Saudi students studying in Britain.
Heritage Conservation Advisor Mohammed Al-Amoudi highlighted the Kingdom’s efforts in preserving national cultural heritage, with Historic Jeddah standing out as a prominent example of Saudi heritage.
He emphasized that Historic Jeddah is one of the oldest coastal locales in the region, featuring the unique traditional architecture of the Hijaz region and the Red Sea basin.
This historical area also represents a key national heritage site that was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2014, becoming the third Saudi cultural heritage site to receive this recognition, Al-Amoudi
stated.
