DUBAI: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) continues to lead in digital transformation through its significant participation in GITEX GLOBAL 2024. Throughout the exhibition, MoFA is highlighting its comprehensive strategy to achieve the digital integration of consular services and the incorporation of artificial intelligence (AI) in government operations, under its Smart Mission initiative, which envisions the future of consular services as being bureaucracy-free.This strategy aligns with the UAE’s visionary leadership’s goals of providing proactive, outstanding, and flexible digital services, available anytime to all segments of society, and meeting their evolving aspirations.
On the sidelines of GITEX Global, on October 15, 2024, the Ministry hosted a panel discussion on ‘Leadership in Digital Transformation: Towards a Human-Centered Future.’ This session brought together MoFA’s partners from key government entities, including the Ministry of Health and Prevention, the Ministry of Education, Abu Dhabi J
udicial Department, and the Sharjah Private Education Authority, all of whom are key partners in the digital attestation service integration project.
The discussions focused on multi-party digital integration for the digital attestation service, a vital part of MoFA’s strategy. In February 2024, MoFA completed the first phase of digital integration with the Ministry of Health and Prevention, allowing users to complete multiple government transactions in one go through a unified digital portal, contributing to the Zero Government Bureaucracy Programme.
On October 16, 2024, MoFA held another key session titled ‘The Smart Mission: From Zero Bureaucracy to the Future of Consular Services’, presented by Mohammed Al Mansouri, MoFA’s Chief AI Officer, and Acting Director of the Consular Services Department.
This session explored how AI, IoT, and other advanced technologies are being utilized to offer fast, flexible, and efficient services to UAE citizens, residents abroad, and prospective visitors to the UAE, lea
ding to zero bureaucracy.
MoFA teams have worked to complete digital integration operations with partners in the public and private sectors to roll out the smart mission project in a number of countries, in line with the government’s “from zero to the world” approach, with the launch set to take place soon.
Al Mansouri stressed, ‘We were ready for this transformation. Our proactive vision and strict compliance with the country’s digital transformation strategies enabled us to anticipate these changes and anticipate customer needs.’
MoFA’s participation at GITEX 2024 is a continuation of its strategic efforts to achieve full digital transformation in consular services, including the Smart Mission, the digital attestation service integration, and the launch of the latest version of the Electronic Document Attestation System (eDAS 2.0).
In partnership with other government bodies, MoFA remains committed to delivering human-centered digital services that align with the UAE’s goals for innovation, reinforcing
the country’s leadership in digital transformation and government service innovation.
