Bali, Indonesia, Saudi Minister of Environment, Water, and Agriculture, and head of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s delegation to the Tenth World Water Forum, held in Indonesia between May 18 and 24, Eng. Abdulrahman Abdulmohsen Al-Fadley held meetings with the Algerian minister of irrigation and the Kenyan minister of water, sanitation, and irrigation on the sidelines of the event.
The Saudi and Algerian sides emphasized the need to pool global and local efforts to address the challenges in the water sector. Discussion focused on achieving the goals of the Global Water Organization, launched by the Kingdom, and exchanging experience to enhance technological expertise, innovation, research and development, and global best practices in water management.
The Saudi and Kenyan representatives agreed to maintain official level communication. The Kenyan minister praised Saudi Arabia for hosting the next session of the World Water Forum, and emphasized the importance of learning from the Kingdom’s experiences in wat
er management.
Al-Fadley discussed hosting the 11th World Water Forum in 2027 in Riyadh, under the theme “Action for a Better Tomorrow”, and highlighted the preparations for the 16th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP16) of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD), which will take place in Riyadh from December 2 to 13, 2024.
