The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) is hosting the Codex Coordinating Committee for the Near East (CCNE) training program, with representatives from the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the World Health Organization (WHO) participating.
The event will take place at SFDA headquarters in Riyadh from September 10 to 12, 2024. The training program aims to enhance the active participation of CCNE member states in Codex activities and operations related to food standards, which are developed using scientific approaches and risk assessment to ensure food safety.
The program will feature several workshops and interactive panel discussions focused on food standards and food safety. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by SFDA, is a member of the Executive Committee of the Codex Alimentarius (Codex) and has chaired the CCNE since 2020. Established in 1963, Codex is a joint organization of the FAO and WHO, consisting of 189 members and including several committees and technical working groups
responsible for developing international food standards.
