Zayed Award for Human Fraternity is vital to peace and harmony of humanity: Mohamed Abdelsalam

Judge Mohamed Abdelsalam, Secretary-General Higher Committee of Human Fraternity (HCHF), has said that the Zayed Award for Human Fraternity and the values it represents are vital to the future peace and harmony of our world. “The award is more than a prize, it is a call for all peoples to come together for the benefit of humanity.”

In a statement, Judge Abdelsalam said that “working closely with people from all backgrounds regardless of their religion, gender or race is a necessity to enhance socioeconomic growth and development”.

“It was truly an honour to serve as a member of the Zayed Award for Human Fraternity judging committee for the second time. Each nominee has inspired and challenged us in new ways, truly embodying the beliefs of the Founding Father of the UAE, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who lived by the values of human fraternity and left behind an enduring legacy of tolerance and peaceful coexistence,” he added.

Last year, the award honoured UN Secretary-General António Guterres and French Moroccan activist Latifa Ibn Ziaten for their work in combating division, intolerance, and misinformation – and promoting peace and understanding in communities around the world, HCHF Secretary-General said.

“We look forward to announcing the honoree(s) of the 2022 prize at the award ceremony, which will be held in Abu Dhabi,” he added.

The Zayed Award for Human Fraternity is an independent global award recognising individuals and entities who are making profound contributions to human progress and peaceful coexistence. His Holiness Pope Francis and His Eminence Prof. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, became the first honorary recipients of the Zayed Award for Human Fraternity following their historic signing of the Document on Human Fraternity, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and the patron of human fraternity.
